There will be an incessant need for cash as the New S&D expands! We need to be proactive and imaginative with fundraising, so if you have fundraising skills please offer your services!

We would also like to operate a sales and information stand to take to events and shows along the route and further afield. These are an excellent way of gaining new members as well as bringing in further profits through sales items. If you have some free time, let us know.
Online Shop
We have set up a very basic (for now) e-commerce website where you can buy both S&D and other railway related items, plus eventually books on climate change, peak oil, economics etc.
This site is currently 'piggybacking' on Stephen Sainsbury's personal e-commerce site and doesn't cost the New S&D a penny. ALL profits go straight to the S&D.
Currently we have a range of S&D station totems, mouse-mats and DVDs.
Stamp Collecting
We can also raise money from collecting used stamps. We make £5 per kilo for British stamps and £19 per kilo for world (without British) stamps. Some charities make thousands of pounds each year this way! Please package up and send to:

ALL stamps are required, even the regular 1st and 2nd class small ones. Ideally they should be trimmed to within about 5mm of the perforations, on just the front part of the envelope. Please try to use nice higher value commemorative stamps to send your stamps to us, rather than the horrible white labels!
Gift It!
We also welcome donations of books (railway and transport titles), model railway equipment and anything rail or transport related for our eBay shop, which will be opening later this year. Please send these items to:

The Midford Station Appeal
The first aim of the New S&D will be to rebuild the station site at Midford as a visitor information centre. This will only be the very first small step to restoring the route, but possibly the most important.
As Paypal charges can be high it is better to make larger donations (£20+) by cheque wherever possible, but please feel free to use this facility for any amounts if easier! Cheques should be made payable to 'New Somerset and Dorset Railway' and sent to:

S&D Steam Centre:
New S&D Steam Centre plan is to create a base on the route (Templecombe or Evercreech are suggested) where steam locomotives can be shedded and serviced and run services over the route. These will be additional to the 'real' passenger and freight scheduled services.
